Pre-arrival tips

We reccomend you bring a flashlight, a small LED light is best, antibacterial lotions for bites (If you go out at night we reccomend you use it), if you drink coffee, bring some. Bring a mask and a snorkel, clothes to swim, it is usually sunny and warm, sandals, sunglasses, lotions to protect from sun and Books for reading.
The currency in Mexico is the Peso. The best money to use for all purchases is the Peso. There is no ATM in Yelapa. US Dollars are widely accepted in Yelapa, but the exchange rate is often times ten pesos to one dollar, where as at a Bank or “Casa de cambio” is often higher (at the moment about 10.90 pesos to one US Dollar).
Water-Taxis, bars, shops and restaurants do not take CDN money for the most part, So in essence, exchange your money, or use an ATM card at one of the many ATM machines in Puerto Vallarta which are in English and Spanish. All change from USD Dollars is given in Pesos.
